Here are some helpful tips for caregivers:
-Don’t forget to take care of your own health. Often times we can become so involved in caring for others that we neglect our own needs. Try to get adequate rest, nutrition, and exercise. This will keep you feeling your best and allow you to provide better care to another.
-Give yourself a break! Take the time to do activities you enjoy. Don’t be afraid to ask others for help so that you can have some time for yourself. Utilize respite care for your loved one.
-Seek support when you need it. There are many groups for family caregivers to guide and support them in their duties.
-Don’t beat yourself up. Some days may be more challenging than others. Allow yourself to learn and grow in the experience to make you an even more seasoned caregiver!
